“Logan, darling,” Morph said carefully, “Would you mind explaining what ‘this’ is?”
As the cover was pulled off, the greyed fabric revealed a soft yellow woven pad which had been just as carefully folded up as the fabric it was stored in. Logan looked it over for signs of insect activity that may have damaged it, and Morph saw his shoulders relax when it seemed to be in an acceptable condition.
“This,” He said, his face lit up in a way Morph rarely had the pleasure of getting to see. Like he was revealing something incredibly special and precious. Which they wanted to humor except that what they were being shown looked incredibly nondescript. “Is a tatami mat,” Logan said it with such dramatic emphasis that it was hard to believe that he had never pursued acting. Though Morph knew well enough he had a flair for showmanship at the right time. It was clearly something of importance to him, too, they could see it in the way he held the mat. Like it was Tiffany stained glass.
