Ellis has interacted with affini. Affini have interacted with him. He…knows them. He’s grateful for all the luxury and technology and such — you know, civilizing primitive wastelands, he knows the whole deal here. It’s really impossible to avoid affini, actually, since a good number of his floret friends get asked to meet him and he can’t just say no because that would entail actually confronting someone in a social setting, which is as good as a death sentence for a guy like him. He’s an expert at ignoring giant plants standing behind his friends, incoherent moaning noises, and hush-toned songs about how cute they are playing together.
Casual hangouts and hookups can get very awkward very quickly under the benevolent imperialism of the Compact.
Not that he’s disagreeing with it. All hail the Compact! He loves the Compact, all his friends are inside it.

What is one to do when all of your friends have been domesticated, you're lonely and miss them but don't want to deal with their overly flirtatious owners, and you want to avoid being domesticated yourself? For Phoebe, who dropped out of grad school with 7/8 of a masters in sociology, the answer is to propose an academic study on domestication about it. This goes about as well as you might expect.
Part of the Human Domestication Guide universe, which is an inherently kink-centered setting, with all the standard fare content warnings which come with it (dubcon, drug usage, systemic D/s, etc.). This was written assuming at least a passing familiarity with what the Human Domestication Guide is about so it may not be the best introduction to the setting.
