It was Sam’s turn to spin the bottle.
Sebastian’s eyes were fixed on his freckled hand, blue nail polish already cracked at the edges of his fingernails. Sam used too much force, and it took a few rounds of spinning until the bottle slowed down, creeping awfully close into Sebastian’s direction until it landed on him.
The world seemed to stop for a moment. He snapped his head up, giving Abigail a panicked look, but the glint in her eyes showed no mercy. She mouthed him a 'good luck', before he forced himself to stand up, following Sam on wobbly legs.
"To make one thing clear, I won’t give you a blowjob", Sam tried to joke. Sebastian snorted, though the thought of the possibility made his head spin like the bottle that had brought him into this situation.
"Don’t worry, I didn’t expect you to do that", he huffed.
There was a beat of silence. Sebastian wondered how many minutes had already passed.
"We could spend the time with something else, though…"

Sebastian said nothing. His expression faltered for the first time—something in it caught between regret and defensiveness, like he hadn’t meant to show his hand quite so much.
Then, quietly, he said, “Maybe if you stopped pretending to be someone you’re not, people would actually stick around.”
The words hit like a punch to the gut. They both knew exactly what he meant. And Alex—no matter how hard he tried, no matter how deep he buried it—couldn’t pretend otherwise.
A shaky breath escaped him. His fists clenched so tightly his knuckles went white.
“Go fuck yourself.”

Either he’d turn you down and you’d just go home, or he’d accept, you’d share a quick kiss, and then dance together, confirming the rumors to his family and the town at large. The well-practiced steps of the dance would keep your mind off of the glaring omissions you had made when offering him a relationship. For what supposedly started as an ancient fertility ritual, the flower dance was quite sexless. But the part that followed is what had you worried. The two of you had snuck away from the festival early, and headed back to your house for a moment alone. And there was no choreography for this part.
A.K.A. After giving Sebastian a bouquet, You (reader) have the "I'm asexual" talk with him and then try to decide what intimacy means to both of you in a relationship without sex (basically figuring out where the farmer likes to be touched and how, what feels good, what doesn’t, etc.)

Maybe this Melissa chic will be the first person in town not to treat him like he's a ticking time bomb. Maybe she can counter all his cynical and rude comments with her own? Maybe she can pull him out the hole he's dug himself into, maybe for the first time in years he won't feel like he's holding on by a thread. Let's just hope he doesn't screw it up.
