He gestured wildly towards the hanger across from them and Siri did not move, she would allow him a moment, but not let him get sucked beneath the waves of his emotions. She would be his lifeline in this moment whether he appreciated it or not.
“How can I face the Padawans who just lost their Masters?” He went on. “Or look a Master in the eyes who lost their Padawan? All of them died and for what - Dooku got away, we are about to go to war for the first time in a milenia and now we’re short handed Jedi all because I was stupid enough to get caught!”

A story about learning to live without the person you love, the consequences of betrayal and learning to be a better person in their absence.
When Obi Wan chases down Jango on Geonosis, they find their pasts catching up to them. The Jedi killer, and the Jedi, have maintained a secret relationship for the past 2 decades. They've always known they aren't good for each other, but they couldn't stand to be apart, so have carried on regardless.
As the years past, they find themselves relying more and more on willful ignorance to keep their relationship going, but there are some betrayals that even Obi Wan can't ignore. Thanks to Count Dooku, the confrontation ends in tragedy, with the relationship meeting a deadly end.
In one galaxy, Jango Fett falls on Geonosis, but in another, he survives and Obi Wan takes his place.
Those that we love shape our lives long after they stop breathing, often, you can find an echo of the person you loved living on within those they left behind. Where Jango survives, he finds himself serving as mentor to Anakin. Where he dies, Obi Wan finds himself as a reluctant father to Boba. One things for sure, Palpatine didn't count on a partnership that unlikely, in any galaxy.

Rex listened to the hum of the engines. It wouldn’t be long before they’d be shunted off onto Coruscant, and then Ka’ra only knew what. He scratched Pixie’s scalp, warm fur twined around his fingertips like that silky fabric he’d seen Senator Amidala wearing. Individual hairs caught on scars from hand to hand training, the dry tears in his cuticles.
"It doesn’t feel like anything good, but it never has,” Rex said.
Pixie hummed, more of a low level growl than anything, almost a purr if someone stretched it.
“I think.” She stopped and there was a familiar feeling in Rex’s gut, like every time she’d said something that turned out to tell the future.
