Obi-Wan felt those telltale twin pangs deep in his chest the first night he held Anakin while he wept, but he ignored it, found it easy to lose amid his guilt. The whole of his body hurt, anyway. But the twinge did not go away. It concentrated, localized. Wheedled out into a sore, unscratchable itch just under the skin, then a throbbing ache. A tenderness, nipples oversensitive when Anakin pressed close, rubbed his face into Obi-Wan’s sternum, twined their legs, and sobbed.
Then, on the third night of this, Obi-Wan cannot remain mired in his denial any longer: his tunic is wet. It’s only Anakin’s tears, he tells himself, but the shift of fabric over his swollen nipples is agonizing, and he noticed how differently his clothes fit this morning. It’s mortifying—Anakin is nineteen.
