When they first met, Ed and Stede had just slotted into place. Two halves of a whole that were always meant to find one another. But then those pieces had been reshaped. Some edges more jaded and other edges more smoothed. And it had been difficult finding their place beside one another.
Ed liked to think it was for the better, really. Stede deserved a whole man, not a half one. And now they were two wholes that just belonged together. Like the mismatched tea cups set out in front of him.

“Sorry, got distracted.” Ed smirks, looking pointedly over Izzy’s body, watching with satisfaction as a pink splotch appears on his chest, edging up his neck. It would have been very smooth and suave if not for the fact that he almost falls over straight afterwards, hopping around on one leg trying to take his boot off.
Izzy huffs a laugh at him but when Ed glances up it’s laced with that fondness, one of Izzy’s arms tucked behind his head, the other lazily scratching the hair on his belly.
