Pain, all-consuming, heart-wrenching pain, is all he remembers. He sees it reiterated again and again in his mind. He watches over and over as the figure of his godfather, the only family he truly had left, floats back through the veil. Blank expression frozen as if by time itself, etched onto his handsome features, now a mockery of the lively person he was just moments before.
Something knocks him back, a sharp, agonizing pain erupting in his side as he's pushed back, his body crumbling against a hard surface. One of the department's shelves behind him topples, crashing to the ground and suddenly all he sees is a flash of bright, all-encompassing light. For a moment, he wonders if he was going to join Sirius wherever he was now.
The world turns white and then he's gone.

Well, no. That’s a tad dramatic. The version of Tom Riddle in her dreams was quite pleasant-looking, unlike the monstrosity that emerged from the cauldron in the graveyard. A bald, noseless, snake-like wraith turned humanoid. Now that was the stuff where nightmares came from.
An AU (honestly, is this still an AU?) where Fem! Harry dreams of the Dark Lord and causes chaos to both the Muggle and Magical World. Oh, and she is an Avenger because of course she is.
