“Look, I don’t want to alarm you, Hank, but I think- I think there may be something wrong with my program.” Hank’s attention snapped back to Connor. “Lieutenant Donovan seems to be a trigger for some… bad part of my programming and it makes me worried that she might be… something. A threat, or a way to sabotage my position here.”
Hank raised his eyebrows, an invitation to go on, though he didn’t look as wary now. Jane still kept a firm grip on her gun.
“My thirium pump goes into overdrive whenever she comes near you, my system overheats and gives me foreign notifications of danger, prompts to do anything to keep her away from you. I’ve had…” He swallowed. Did androids swallow? “Yesterday, when I saw you two together outside the bar, I had a brief prompt tell me to run her over with the car. I wasn’t close to actually do it, but a small part of me wanted to. I think there’s something wrong with - Why are you smiling?” he asked, frustration etched onto his face.
Jane looked over at Hank, who leaned back on the desk again, his shoulders shaking from laughter.
“What?” Connor insisted with a sour face, and Hank managed to stop chuckling, still wearing a shit eating grin.
“Connor…” Hank said in mock-seriousness as he stared at Connor, his eyes twinkling. “Are you jealous?”
Jane’s heart pounded.
“I --No! No, of course not,” Connor answered, too quickly and exactly like a guilty person would claim their innocence. He shook his head and crossed his arms, looking very uncomfortable.
Hank’s grin grew even wider.

Your job as Detroit Central's IT Security Head was to be a human firewall: resilient, smart, and ethically uncompromising. You were all those things. You were also, on occasion, spectacularly stubborn and stupid. So when an intimidatingly advanced android/corporate siphon is assigned to your precinct, you do the stupid thing: you try to explain his feelings as processes. And when a wave of corruption and violence rises from within your own department, targeting you both, that connection becomes your only lifeline. Now, you're fighting a war on two fronts: one against the criminals in your system, and another for the soul of the machine you weren't supposed to care about.

Summary
"You know what a green card marriage is, right?" Hank asks.
"Sure," Connor says, dimly amused, because Hank was sweet to come all the way up to Canada, but this is ridiculous. "Who am I marrying?"
What Connor intends to say next is that he isn't that desperate, that his life here might not be what he would pick for himself but that it's also perfectly fine, until Hank pulls a little box from his pocket and opens it.
"I mean," Hank says, "I'm sure you have other options, but I'm offering. As your friend."

Like so many other androids, Connor goes to Canada after the revolution. Android autonomy may have been granted, but things are still dangerous, and he doesn't want Hank to get hurt for protecting him. It was never supposed to be a permanent solution, but by early 2040, a number of legal developments have made it such that androids can only return to the states if they're marrying a citizen.
Connor wants to come home. Jeff wants him back on the force. And Hank just wants him back.

The dog was jumping around on the bed, clambering over him frantically as he barked and barked. Sumo had always been a big friendly beast. Content to sprawl over the nearest flat surface and snooze. This was startling behaviour from the usually calm dog.

He knows, theoretically, he’s capable of performing the act. Admittedly, he’s still been entirely unable to give the hardware a test run to completion, but it’s there, and the software currently installed to run it may be basic, but upgrades and updates are readily available and getting better all the time.
If Hank wants him to try more human things, copulation, from Connor’s understanding, is incredibly human.

But now a new deadly threat has taken over Detroit. "Von Rothbart" the serial killer.
