A retelling of Persona 5, based on the original concept of a road trip, combined with the current concept of Thieves stealing hearts from the wicked, as well as personal preferences for the story.
Ren Amamiya, after being released from prison on good behavior, loses everything-- his home, his friends, his family, and any hopes of even continuing college. However, a stroke of luck has him land in the hands of his grandfather, who gives him the gifts of a large sum of cash and an RV, with a simple goal;
"Travel Japan and find out who Ren Amamiya really is."
During these travels, however, he begins having strange dreams and experiencing unnatural occurrences; dreams of creatures beyond his imagination, seeing and hearing things that aren't possible, and having an app mysteriously appear on his phone. He soon discovers the Metaverse; a world of human cognition made from the twisted desires of man. Realizing he could use these powers to ensure what happened to him never happens to anyone again, he becomes a Phantom Thief of Heart, and decides to use his road trip to ensure he helps those in need! -
