The phone call shook Dante awake from his half-asleep consciousness. He practically dove for the phone and put it to his ear, desperate for a mission. “Devil May Cry,” he sang. The other line was silent, but he could hear heavy breathing. After what felt like an hour, he heard the voice. “PlEAse!” He sat up straight. Something was entirely wrong here. The first thing he noted in the voice was that it was distorted. He could barely understand what it said.
“Hello? What’s wrong?” He tried asking the voice. “ForTUna,” it spoke again, and this time he could make out a female voice. “He’s nOT okay! HeLP uS!” The line ended, and Dante started yelling into the phone. “Hello? Hello! What’s wrong!”

Or Dante gets a strange and concering phone call from Fortuna three years after the 'Savior Incident' and decides to investigate. He runs into Vergil, who is heading to Fortuna for a different reason. Shit goes down.

Summary
A year has passed since the Qliphoth tree's destruction and Urizen's defeat. Since Dante and Vergil left to the human world to Nero's protection, trouble has been brewing in all corners of the world due to the massive spill of demons out into the realm. Nero, while temporarily under his uncle's name, did some investigating on the island of Fortuna after learning that some demons had also sprung up there once more. Resulting in him learning about a mysterious demon who calls himself 'Wulf', an apparent guardian of the village called Umbra on the western coast of the isle. Will he prove to be an ally to the DMC crew? Or will he be yet another cog of Mundus' machine? Only time will tell.

The cars honked— demanding to go forward while pedestrians stopped and stared. Something was wrong— you could feel the strong demonic presence. You gripped the steering wheel tightly as the teenage girl next to you held her violin case. She had long silver hair and blue eyes with pale skin and rosy cheeks. She wore her school uniform with an oversized grey hoodie on top of it that covered her hands. She always had her hood up when you picked her up from her lesson. You felt as though you didn't exist; being near her seemed like a nuisance.
