Summary
There were very few people at Camp Half-Blood that remembered Kane Jackson and the effect he had on Dionysus, nor were there many who remembered Dionysus was one of the few gods who visited Camp Half-Blood and regularly interacted with the children. He had been the Unofficial Camp Director for a long time before Zeus made it official and prevented him from drinking. Unaware of what effect that would have on him.
Dionysus does care about the campers but can't show it due to how Zeus would react. He found other ways of getting around his Father's rule and ensuring as many of the children reached the camps border and survived to adulthood as possible.
