!!!Lots of spoilers for everything Grishaverse!!!
Years after the events of Rule of Wolves, ignoring the cliffhanger in the book, and fast forwarding to where Nikolai and Zoya are now, they are queen and prince consort. Zoya, being the powerful Grisha she is, hasn't physically aged a day. And Nikolai, since the demon creation is a part of him, he hasn't aged either, which has proven their theory of agelessness life for them both.
Of course, the people around them are older, happier under Zoya's rule. The rule promised to be long and prosperous, made possible by the Nazyalensky line growing in number. There are still people that are hesitant on her rule, on the information that Nikolai is not aging normally.
Now Nikolai needs to explain the demon to his children, with he and Zoya knowing their children were raised to know merzost is an abomination tactic, something they are not allowed to test and tamper with. And soon, people find out along with his children, striking fear and anger into Ravkan citizens. For the first time in Nikolai's life, he's completely terrified of this situation. And he doesn't know if he can do this at all.

Summary
Everything was fine in Ravka.
The Darkling was stuck in a tree, Fjerda was starting to change under their crown prince and his waffle-loving wife and the stupid cripple with the stupid haircut and the stupid punchable face was minding his own buisness in Ketterdam.
So, everything was fine in Queen Zoya's Life.
...until it wasn't.
Because suddenly, Sabina Garin seemingly remerbers she has a daughter, a daughter on the throne of Ravka no less, and demands to be made Queen Mother.A story in wich we find out about the abuse Zoya faced in her early childhood, Liliyana is alive and thriving and on the way to save her niece's ass, David is fine and building things for his wife and Nikolai and Genya are there to support Zoya with absolutely everything, even if it includes kicking Zoyas own mother out of the palace.
This is my first work on Ao3 and I'm not a native english speaker so please have mercy. I just wanted to write some Zoya Angst/ comfort.
