“May I have this dance, my lady?” Kyana asked, seeing Dani smile a bit as well. The smile seemed almost amused and thoughts swam in Kyana’s mind about what could possibly be making Dani smile like that at her.
Dani curtseyed, overly formal in a way that Kyana knew was uncomfortable to her, standing up straight and placing her hand into Kyana’s own. “Thank you for asking.” Dani said, very clearly before dropping her voice down to a whisper when Kyana got closer. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too.” Kyana whispered back, feeling Dani’s warmth under her hands in a way that made her skin feel like it was buzzing with an energy far beyond her. Dani’s eyes were sharp as Kyana let her to where others were dancing, examining the floor like it was an arena rather than a party.

Dani broke out in a coughing fit for the second time in five minutes, and Veerle realized what was happening. He walked over to the couch and sat down next to her.
“Alright, you can stop pretending. How bad do you feel and what are your symptoms?”
Dani looked at him like she didn’t know what he was talking about. Veerle stared at her expectantly. Dani’s gaze turned annoyed and she rolled her eyes. “I’m fine. Sore throat, stuffy nose, that kinda stuff. It’s just a cold.”
“Great. Now tell me the truth.”
Dani glared at him. Veerle just waited.
Dani turned her scowl to Plug’s head which she was angrily rubbing. She grumbled to herself— something about “nosy ass friends”— but eventually, like Veerle knew she would, gave in.
“Fine. Fuck you. I feel like shit. I’ve got a headache, I feel like throwing up, this room is too damn cold, and I’ve got a bitch of a roommate.”

Emi loosen her grip on her frog plush, staring at the weird dog. The dog let out another high pitched bark, doing a play bow. Emi vaguely remembered somebody saying that was a sign a dog was friendly, so she carefully approached. The dog's tail sped up, but the dog didn't move, waiting for her to get closer.Emi stopped in front of the dog, holding her hand out to it. The dog sniffed Emi's hand for a moment, before gently nudging her hand with its nose. Emi giggled.
"Hello, are you lost too?" Emi asked softly, receiving another friendly bark from the dog. "You're very nice." Emi petted the dog, who leaned into her hand.
The dog pulled back from the petting after a moment, nudging at Emi's torso for a moment before walking forward. "Do you want me to follow you?" Emi asked the dog, who nodded
