listen. I don't know why I write this many harry potter crossovers either. maybe it's an excuse to reread the entire septimus heap series, which is far superior british magic boy-protagonist fantasy. maybe it's because the HP universe has such fragile worldbuilding that I can do whatever I want and no one's allowed to complain. maybe it's for the above reason except the worldbuilding being lazy allows me to also be lazy with my fic!
except I am absolutely not being lazy here, i am DEAD SERIOUS. this premise simply will not leave me until i release it into the world as words on a page.
KNOWLEDGE OF SEPTIMUS HEAP BOOKS NOT REQUIRED TO UNDERSTAND THIS FIC. i specifically made it accessible so u would all join me in the much better magic book series. i mean, it's not better in terms of canon gay characters, but fuck, at least angie sage kinda tried.

Summary
Septimus and Syrah have a lot in common. They've both been ExtraOrdinary Apprentices. They both have trouble sleeping at night. And they both have had very little luck when it comes to the world of love. Luckily for them, they each have a good friend in each other, who they can always rely on to have a shoulder to lean on when life gets tough. But what happens when that friendship starts to feel like something more?
Set in the year after the end of Fyre, this fic spans 8 years of Septimus and Syrah's relationship, starting as teens and following through to adulthood. Canon compliant (including Todhunter Moon), except that I've changed Syrah's age to be more reflective of how she's written - that is, here she's the same age as Septimus and Jenna. This fic is focused on Septimus and Syrah, but includes a Jenna and Beetle wedding, a one-chapter feature of JoJo and Marissa, and other background canon couples.
