Miranda was tired. She has lived for far too long, seen too much. It was all beginning to blend together, the places she's been, the faces of people she knew, the memory of those who died. Her failures were piling up without a break in sight. Usually she held it together, compartmentalized her feelings and pulled from her endless well of patience to find a new angle to approach the vessel experiments from. When that didn't work, she called a meeting with her four lords when her feelings overwhelmed her, being in their presence assuaged her loneliness, even if just a little. A fact she'd never admit to them.
Today she knew that wouldn't work. She was extra irritable, the vices around her heart constricting a tad too tightly. It was finally here, a day she had been dreading for months. It was the anniversary of her daughter's death, and this one was extra special, this one marked 100 years. For one hundred years she has failed Eva. What a momentous occasion.
She planned on spending the day lost in the labyrinth of her cave laboratory, hoping the hours would slip by and she wouldn't have time to think too much.
