the man reached for the yellow bandana covering the lower half of his face, pulling it below his chin. clancy watched in bewilderment as torchbearer revealed himself, sure he had felt his heart stop in his chest. how was that possible?
with wide eyes, he glanced to his right where torchbearer should have been, but was only met with an empty space. the anger inside him simmered into a desperate confusion. clancy was sure he was ready to take on anything, but this? this was too much.

Summary
In time, the group detects an amber blaze in the otherwise black expanse of sky. Paces boost as they stride headfirst into the valley of flame. Anticipation floods Tyler's veins, taking over his body. He’s nearly shaking with anxiousness as the prospects of returning home lead to jitters. Josh withdraws his trembling hand. Tyler almost doesn't notice.
The clearing is flaring yellows and singed oranges when they breach the trees. The bonfire spits flames towering and scorching on the tacky, cool skin of their faces. Tyler pays no mind to the searing heat. His eyes remain fixed on the bandito standing with shoulders squared, torchlight in hand on the outer border of the field.

He clenched his jaw and forced himself to look back towards Bandito Josh on the other side of the opening. Marching forward, tightening his grip around the antlers in his left hand, Tyler came to a stop when he was face to face with Bandito Josh.
His face was stone cold. No hint of a smile, no glimmer in his eyes, just an icy cold stare as he handed Tyler his Clancy mask.
Tyler looked down and took the mask, holding it in his right hand. He gripped the mask harder as he looked back up at Josh.
“I know you have questions. I have answers. But first, we need to get out of here."
