Chip managed to sit up a little bit, leaning on one of his elbows to look at Jay in the small stream of moonlight that slipped through the porthole. He buried his hand in her feathers, smoothing them down absently where they fluffed up or shifted.
Jay’s expression was relaxed, her cheeks had a slight flush of it from the warmth of the room and being under the covers. Her lips were slightly parted with her soft breaths as her chest rose and fell. Chip reached over, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear as it fell in front of her face.
Thankfully, Jay didn’t stir.
