Henri realized he had lost the only memento he had of his friend, Lambert's beloved bunny plushie. It was the last link to the person Lambert used to be, a reminder of his memory for his loved ones. The soldier made a promise to himself: he would deliver the toy to his comrad's family. It felt like the very least he could do after unknowingly playing a part in dooming his friend's fate.
The thought of abandoning Augustin's final wish was unbearable for Henri, even if it meant risking his own life.
