Summary
After fourteen days, Arthur has stopped counting.
When each rise of the sun brings no change, he remains awake into the early hours trying to find a way to attempt to force said change, and inevitably, the sun rises once again without a solution having presented itself. Arthur is losing not only optimism but stamina too, and so is everyone in the encampment.
For an unidentifiable amount of time they have lived in the mud-soaked trenches of war, and Arthur misses his own bed. He misses the familiarity of his home. The sounds of Camelot's people going about their business surrounded him wherever he went, at home, but here there are only the sounds of war and exhaustion. He misses seeing his brothers-in-arms smile.
He misses seeing the light in Merlin's eyes.
