Eliot usually led; Quentin followed. Which, again, really seemed to work out in Quentin's favor. So he’d been expecting to step out of the shower and into some kind of kinky scene where Eliot was waiting all domineering and that was a trip to think about. They’d been talking about this for months. Safewords and kinks. Eliot disappearing for hours at a time into the city for some kind of workshop he’d found at a sex shop in SoHo. He had a certificate. Quentin was pretty sure it was the only time Eliot had taken notes. He’d come back with a stylish leather harness he claimed would be the basis of his entire spring wardrobe. Which was really hot.
So knowing this, once again, Quentin had expected to enter the room only to be swept off his feet--
However, occasionally Eliot did shit that made no fucking sense.
Like when Quentin stepped out of the shower all pink, thinking about the collar Eliot had had made for him and Eliot told him all they were gonna do was put it on him and watch ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.

The absurdity of the whole situation is that it turns out that going crazy didn’t feel like going crazy somehow. It felt like someone kept switching the channel on his life at random intervals.
Sometimes he’ll take a sip of water and taste champagne bubbles on his tongue, feel the urge to straighten his clothes like he hasn’t basically been wearing pajamas for a week now. Then he’ll relax back into the body cradling his own, his head resting in the lap of someone who runs fingers through his hair, twisting that one curl that refuses to bend to his will in a way that will make it stand up straight. His hand flicks up on reflex, holding onto a slender wrist to stop its movement.
Alarmingly, one time he’s pretty sure he’s holding a gun and advancing down an alleyway in some city.
Regardless, Midtown Mental Health Clinic is the worst possible place to start seeing impossible things and have out of body experiences.
Alternate Season 1/Sense 8 AU that no one asked for quite frankly.

A job went bad and Quentin was just plucked from the face of the Earth and Eliot learned that he can't live without him.

Before everything went to shit, if someone stuck a slice of Everything Pizza in his hands, Q’d happily claim he was getting every food group in one bite and be done with it. But a breakthrough was in there, somewhere. Eliot just had to find it. He had to. This was Quentin. They didn’t bring him back just to wallow in a tasteless hell for the rest of his life. And…shit…maybe, just fucking maybe, “being brave” could get back on the table.

All of Quentin's senses go haywire when he's brought back to life. After months of getting everything down to a manageable level, Eliot decides to take big risk. He cooks his feelings on a professional level, planning a five-course meal in the hopes of doing something nice for the two of them, and to see if he and Quentin can have a second chance at another fifty years.
