The last thing they ever wanted was for a little kid to be apart of this hellhole, but in Forsaken, you can't always get what you want.
When a new survivor is introduced to this hell, you could say they were surprised by a new one, nonetheless a kid. Everyone tries their best to comfort and help, but the kid warms up to Chance instead. Taking everyone by surprise, she stays glued to Chance.
And Chance? He lets it happen. He takes care of her as if she was his little sister, and he promises to protect her. No matter what.
She looks up to him.
And he sees himself in her.

Before he could ask, they shook their head. “That may be true; your observant nature continues to astound me. Anyhow, has the Spawn so graced you with an activity to take your mind off of whatever may be troubling you?”
He straightened up. “Yeah, I was gonna make Noob some cookies.” He turned to Taph and Shedletsky (they’d returned to awkwardly staring each other down) and spoke. “You’re all welcome to help."
Shedletsky looked at Taph for a few more seconds before shifting his gaze to Elliot. “Sure, no prob. Why’re you making them cookies?” The man stood, stretching.
“Er– tomorrow is the one year anniversary of their forsakening. I thought I might try to do something nice to get their mind off of it.”
The other three paused at that.

Dying is a horrible experience.
Even for someone like Chance; who has died hundreds of times, more than they can even remember, thinks it's a horrible experience, especially the first time you do so.
The anxiety, your mind screaming "I still want to live" but your body betraying you, growing weaker every moment that passes. Feeling that all you lived was meaningless. The sadness, the fear, the hopelessness, that just to end up accepting your fate. That you won't open your eyes anymore. That there's nothing you can do as you slowly bleed out on the cold floor, alone, without anyone to comfort you in your final moment.-
