Summary
In the wild and untamed lands of the New World, Lena has been living as a professional monster hunter for several years. Her work with the Research Commission keeps her busy, but she can't shake the feeling that there is more to her purpose than just slaying giant creatures. Lena's true motives are a closely guarded secret as she's haunted by the disappearance of the Third Fleet years ago, along with her brother.
Kara arrives in the New World with the Fifth Commission's fleet as General Grant’s protégé. Lena is skeptical of the newcomer, and they both but heads at first but as fate would have it, the two are thrust together in the line of duty. As Lena and Kara journey together, they find themselves drawn to each other in ways they never expected. And as they do so, Lena begins to unravel the mystery of her brother's disappearance, leading them both down a path that will change their lives forever.
