Summary
After the events with the Progenitors' tech, Rayner is reinstated as a captain and sent on a relief mission to his home world of Kellerun, newly freed from the Breen. Knowing this mission will be anything but easy, he enlists the help of Dr. Tracy Pollard.
Tracy is burned out and unfulfilled. A change of scenery and the chance for her own adventure, might be what she needs. The opportunity to help a friend and an entire world is an added bonus.
But things take a nosedive when an accident leaves them separated. Rayner must get his fractured kin to work together to reestablish a fair society despite traitors in his midst. And Tracy tries to pick her way through the alien wilderness and back to civilization while being hunted.

Getting Hugh and Paul back together after the events of season 2. It takes work, it isn't easy, it's messy, mistakes are made, but it's all worth it.
Part missing scenes, part fix-it, all coming from a love of these characters and a need to have more of them. There is canon divergence but it's fairly minor and in my headcanon doesn't really change anything major to the overall plot of season 3 and beyond.
As ever, Orth is the reason I've managed to write this and actually share it.

It still doesn't feel real. This reality is crushing.
Eventually Paul can't take it. He can't hide anymore. A wall breaks within him.

They’ve always been so in sync, comfortable in each other’s space. Their bodies curve together, established patterns of whose arm goes where when they cuddle. Familiar routines of casual touch that Hugh never thought about much, before. It felt right, and that’s all he needed to know.
Now, there’s something unsettling even if he can’t articulate it. This body is new, pristine, unmarred by the thousand little scrapes and bruises and love bites accumulated over four decades. Doctor Pollard pronounces it with an almost awed excitement, but for Hugh there’s nothing about it to celebrate.
Paul touches him now, with a caress that he should want to lean into, but it’s all he can do not to shrink away.
It feels wrong.
This body doesn’t know Paul.
