He'd seen runs go up to floor 30,40, even 80, but they were all runs with...how should he put this..more than 1 person in the run. He'd only see solo runs go up to around.. floors 16 without the single toon returning to the lobby.
He wasn't sure what exactly was going through Poppy's head in going on a run solo, but she was...doing pretty good, so he couldn't judge.

Glisten wakes up in a dark elevator. It’s been forever ago since the last drop of recoverable ichor was used up to revive another Toon.
Everyone else is gone, except for Dandy, who saved Glisten from completely becoming twisted.

Come on, think! She figured that she’d get out of the twisted’s sight if she hid behind something. Sadly, the world doesn’t tend to let the poor toons have their way. Whoops! Dead end! What a coincidence, the end of a passage and the end of Brightney’s life!
CRUNCH!
Brightney is one clever lamp! Unfortunately, not clever enough to escape dying and breaking her promise to everyone of a way to cure the twisteds.
Rodger wishes he knew how fondly Brightney thought of him. He wishes that he'd realized how important she really is to him, when he actually had a chance to tell her.
Tisha wishes she knew why Brightney thought so fondly of Rodger. And to be frank, she also wishes that others would see her as more than just someone who cleans the hallways.

You stop turning the dial as the red light at the top begins to blink red. A sudden buzz makes you cry out and stumble back. Was it because you stopped, or something else?
There are footsteps, and not yours, coming your way fast. You dash to the room by the elevator and keep your head out just enough to see.
Is that... Shrimpo?
You haven't seen the angry shrimp in years, but you sure as hell know he got a shitty makeover. His eyes are wide and red like he hasn't blinked since you last saw him. His pupil is the same color, his iris reduced to a thick black circle. The end of his head-tail-thing is black, as are his hands. The stuff has covered his mouth like a mask. He stands and stares at the machine you were at before stomping back down the stairs
Bile rises in the back of your throat. You want to scream, puke, anything. What had happened to him? Were the others like this? Was he aggressive? Do you even want to know?

You look at the elevator. Still closed. There wasn't anything to pry it open with. Breaking anything metal would attract Shrimpo and anything else down here.Either there was a hidden button, or you had to complete whatever extractors.
You look around. There had to be...
Instructions! Right by your left foot, there was a small poster with a few sketches of the machine.
In one sketch, an arrow pointed to the light with the word "Blinking". Another pointed to the valve, which had an arrow pointing in the opposite direction from where you were turning. "Swap".
So I just turn it the other way when it blinks, you think as you recheck the main room. Shrimpo's moving in the distance, but you're far enough away. You slowly step out and turn the machine again. When the light blinks, you turn it the opposite way, and it stops.
Alright, you think to yourself, when can I go home?

You blink at him. "Dandy?" Your voice felt raw after not speaking all day.His hands drop to his sides. "Y/N? What are you-I thought they laid you off! What are you doing here?"
You limp to the counter and lean your palms on it, peering down at him. He doesn't pay any attention to your wound. "That's not the concern right now. What happened to the other Toons?"
"Oh, the Twisteds?" He tilts his head to the side.
"I said the Toons," you repeat. Your increased heart rate had made you snappy.
He shrugs. "They're Twisteds now. Went insane from Ichor. Not much I can do about it."
He was so nonchalant about it, as if he was describing getting caught in the rain. "And-and everyone's like that?" Your voice raises a bit. "Shelly, Cosmo, Toodles, Astro?!"
His pedals shift a bit when you say Astro's name. They used to be best friends, in and out of the show. "Yep. The remakes are exactly the same as the originals, though."
"Remakes?" You never knew how new Toons were made.
Dandy nods. "The company just made new ones when the old ones got corrupted. It wasn't my decision, so don't holler at me for it. Are you gonna buy anything or what?"

Glisten pulls away rather quickly - you're not complaining; as much as you love(d) Glisten, this new form terrifies you.He peeks around the boxes again, then back at you. "What are you doing here?!" He whispers sharply. You don't know how he can speak without a mouth, but there are better questions.
"The show stopped running so I came to check it out," you state bluntly.
"And delved into the pits of hell in the process."
You narrow your eyes at him. "The 'Dandific Land of Dandy's World' turning into 'hell' spikes curiosity, ya know. What the hell happened here?"
Glisten stiffens at your question. It's not the first suspicious thing in your day, but high on the list. He looks around, then back at you. "I can't tell you."
Your arms drop to your side, and you kneel down - he is taller now, but still below your shoulders when standing. You look (up, now) at him, trying to keep your voice calm and low. "Why not?"
Glisten drops his voice as well, though more out of fear than yours - because you totally weren't scared a bit. "He wouldn't let me..."
"Who?" You have a feeling he won't say, but it's worth a shot.
... not really. Before Glisten can open his mouth, there's a noise like rusty metal against rusty metal, in the direction of the elevator, and heavy breathing that might be whispers. Glisten looks in the direction of the noise, then back at you. His eye is wider, if that was possible.
"Don't leave me alone again..."

This is a project I hope to have the courage to work on more, as since the toons become happy, it makes me happy. This will go through an AU I have made/have added a lot of lore to of the Toon-Handlers coming back, and helping the toons return to as normal as they can be st the moment.
You will find out more about the toon handlers in each chapter that contains them as being a main character for said chapter ( Ex. Poppys toon handlers information is revealed when she is in a chapter.)-

Once Friday rolled around, Tenner huffed and took out the blue uniform he had left that place in, and planned to come back wearing as well. He put it on, and it was slightly tight, but not too bad. In fact, minus the fact it was tight, it felt pretty comfortable, but he could mant.And he planned to stay managing until he got, who was basically his son, back.

Then, it clicked. Poppy, finally realizing she was reunited with Poli, wanted to react, to cheer, to hug her, anything. But, with this stupid ichor, she couldn't act for herself anymore. Just had to mindlessly attack anything that moved or made a noise..But, she tried her best.. And after a few silent moments of Poli waiting for a response, Poppy just fell forward into Polis loose grip. Poli froze for a moment, before hugging her once again, not being too scared of Poppy. Poli looked down at her brown duffle bag, the type of bag Tenner gave everyone after they were able to invent a cure for Ichor Poisoning.

He felt as if Cosmo was his child, and he treated the little guy right, unlike his stupid, sex-offender, previous toon handler that did nothing but —Take his anger out on Cosmo, hurt him, and drink all day long. He wondered if Walter had even done a background check on any of the previous toon handlers he hired?? Probably not.. Budgets were tight then, and just kept getting tighter over time.
Candi huffed, taking a few deep breaths to try and calm himself down.. "In for four, out for eight.. Keep your cool, now you're great." He mumbled to himself after he practiced his breathing routines his therapist for anger management told him about.
Anyways... A few items littered the floor. Some looked half eaten, like chocolate bars. Or broken, like a snapped jumper cable. Also, a few pillows. Most had holes and cratch bars on them, causing stuffing to be everywhere, but it wasn't too bad to navigate through.
