The Polity investigation after Chicago suggested that the Union had found no success in replicating gen:LOCK technology, that there was no way that they could have made a back-up copy of Nemesis to deploy against them. When one month, then two, went by without any sign of a familiar tall, dark and ugly mech, everyone made the same assumption: their spies were right, any mention of copies had to be metaphorical, Nemesis was gone for good.
