hell was the journey but it brought me heaven
When Charlie Spring is assigned to sit next to Nick Nelson in their new form group, neither is sure what to make of the other. He seems funny, and nice. Before too long, a friendship is formed that may become something more.
Fate has a funny way of working out, and sometimes paths cross before you're ready. A red string of fate, meddling hands creating a careful dance, tracing the way together and apart. That cold January day isn't the first time their strings have tangled.
It's just the first knot.

First chapter heavily inspired by the song "invisible string" by Taylor Swift. Story and chapter titles also from the song. The later chapters follow as their relationship develops, and they reflect on past entanglements. Whole thing focuses on Charlie/Nick, but last chapter features Darcy/Tara and Elle/Tao as well.
