Madara’s case hasn’t been any different - Tajima being fair in sending his own sons to further war efforts and at a high risk to die as the cannon folder Tajima seems to see them as, just as he does any other member of their shinobi force. So Madara assumed his own experience in awakening the sharingan would be just like the stories of grief he’s heard whispered among his peers.
But the battle starts and kills are made on both sides, he sees his older brother being dispatched by a Senju he doesn’t know the name and…
Nothing.
No doujutsu, no sharingan.

He let out a heavy breath, feeling suffocated by Hashirama’s constant disapproval, and added to his incapacity to think of a solution was trying his patience. What was he supposed to do? Tobirama was pressed for time. Fighting Izuna and keeping him at bay would only last so long before the Uchiha came up with a new jutsu to kill him.
There were only two options for him: let himself be killed and never know if it was the right action for peace or…he could be the villain and build the ultimate weapon against the Uchiha. Something that would force them to make peace, that would stop them from retaliating and keep them in check.
