Sleep Token are a masked, anonymous collective of musicians united by their worship of an ancient deity crudely dubbed “Sleep,” since no modern tongue can properly express its name. This being once held great power, bestowing ancient civilisations with the gift of dreams, and the curse of nightmares.
Even today, though faded from prominence, Sleep yet lurks in the subconscious minds of man, woman, and child alike. Fragments of beauty, horror, anguish, pain, happiness, joy, anger, disgust, and fear coalesce to create expansive, emotionally textured music that simultaneously embodies the darkest, and the brightest abstract thoughts. He has seen them. He has felt them. He is everywhere.
The name Sleep Token signifies how their music is a form of worship for Sleep, all of their songs are “tokens” of worship. The band is led by the perpetually tormented Vessel who creates music that brings to the fore our most submerged thoughts and feelings, coaxing them from the desolate, terrifying caves of our subconscious mind.

Vi ignored him as movement outside the window caught her eye and she leaned over to see what it was. Her neighbor looked up, their eyes meeting for a brief second. A scowl appeared on the young woman’s face and Vi quickly moved away from the window and took her seat again at the drumset.
“Fuck me,” she mumbled.
Ever since her neighbor had moved in a couple of months ago, it had been nothing but complaint, complaint, complaint. She hated Vi’s music, she hated her friends. She hated the way Vi’s cooking smelled (when she had the misfortune of burning it once or twice).
