It’s taken her longer to go over everything she knows about Cross and Matthews and answer all their questions than she thought it would and she can feel the last of her strength leave her with what she thinks is the final reply. They’d tried to say it was okay an hour ago - they could continue tomorrow, but she just shook her head, knowing tomorrow she’d be with her therapist before work and she didn’t want to slow the case down at all by making them wait.

She looks away from him, though, out the other end of the alleyway to see where it leads. There’s a store on the other side of the street from them - some small boutique with petite, frilly clothes made for those that have never faced any adversity in their lives. Her lips flatten and her brows form a frown of their own volition, a shiver of fear working through her as the raising voices of Mark and Chase reach her ears. They’re arguing about something completely unrelated to her or the police in general, but all she can think of is the moment, years ago, when she’d run into the two of them in the hall of the courthouse - Garrett and Boss had been there, she was safe though she didn’t feel it. They’d both been so angry at the other, giving away how they knew each other. They must have repaired their relationship in prison, because they’re definitely working as a team now.

Philena Xanderson moves to Chicago from New York - originally from the Seattle area - as recommended by Jennifer "Boss" Williams back home. She's found by Halstead at the police academy a month before graduation (much like Ruzek's situation, yes) and joins Intelligence soon after. Months go by (and she changes her name to Marie Olivers) before anything else of note happens - and when it does, it's her worst nightmare come to life. Warnings for mention of past non-con, child abuse, drug addiction, domestic abuse and domestic violence along with canon-typical violence & language.
This is CPD x my original WIP that would never see the light of day outside of fanfic. Written for myself as a character study/curiosity as to how she & the CPD folks would mesh & shared with you all because I like comments & feedback on my writing. So.
