The only reason Dess knew anything new about Asriel was because of a three year old article that she'd scrounged up for her own curiosity. She stared at it, her heart dropping further and further.
The eighteen year old in the photo felt like a stranger.
The twenty-one year old whose text she’d left on delivered for three days felt like a stranger.
For some reason, ever since returning from the Depths, Dess and Asriel simply hadn't been the same.

While innocently and illegally exploring the bunker one day, Dess Holiday discovers a kid monster unlike any she's seen before. It's furless. It's faceless. It's gray. And it seems like it's waiting for something to arrive.
Without any better ideas, she calls the local preschool teacher for help.
“Mizzus Dreemurr? Hey, uh. Hi. Weird question. Do you know any monsters in town that are, like... gray?"
"...What do you mean, it's a HUMAN?"

A Deltarune AU where the Vessel isn't discarded, instead engendered with voices in their head, a prophecy to fulfil, and a world to -- ostensibly -- save.
Written to be as canon-compliant as possible, however will possibly be dated by the release of Chapter 5 next year (and author error).

The prophecy and all the things Kris must do to carry it out have been hammered into their head. They will bring themselves and Noelle into the School Closet's Darkworld. There, they will discover their destiny as heroes, growing stronger, saving the world, and starting a whirlwind romance with Noelle irregardless of their own feelings along the way. It is destiny. It is the Roaring Knight's orders. Like a puppet on a string, Kris has followed the instructions to carry out this fate to the very letter.
Until one purple-haired dragon girl with a penchant for eating chalk throws a wrench into their plans.

Deltarune interview/doc-like fic building up to an after the wiffleincident. Calloween is a monster monster. Fascinating incorporation of a multitude of community ideas with subtlety n grace. Dess hate crimes Krismass for the implicit baggage of the meta shadow hanging around them coming out of the 'chara'cter-ness of their well, character, or perhaps the player, or their narrative weight and so on. Whatever, read tree3's (Andrew Calloween's) comment who does a better job explaining.

Well have I got the fic for you!
The worldbuilding of Elysium is complicated, detailed, and often hidden behind skill checks. It is precise and vague and subjective and overwhelming, just like real life. This atlas hopes to streamline and organize the traditional FAYDE search process, clarify details, and note when the real world influences are notable and draw upon that. And wrap it all up in a colloquial bow because otherwise it’d be impossible for me to read my own work without my brain glazing over.Complete with aside breakdowns from the author over subjects such as “oh my god a dormant volcano is taller than two Everests”, “what the fuck is up with tzaraath that’s not how prion diseases work what the fuck”, and “why do I have to learn about time!”
