It was almost like Derek hadn’t allowed himself to be vulnerable in front of his pack, never showed them that he needed comfort just as much as they did.
Well, that won’t do, Stiles thought to himself as he laid in bed that night. Derek had the shittiest luck out of all of them. Christ, Stiles wouldn’t have been surprised if Derek had decided that all humans were evil and went on a Psycho Peter Murder Spree, but he didn’t. He decided to help a bunch of idiot teens survive, joined forces with the family that killed his own to stop a bigger threat, and try to be the Alpha that everyone could depend on.
Even if he himself couldn’t depend on anyone, Stiles thought, a strange sadness trying to overcome him, but the bond to his Alpha exuded comfort and god. Derek Hale, trying to comfort a distressed pack member through the pack bond. With that, Stiles had decided what he was going to do from now on. Derek Hale deserves nice things, and by god I will give them to him.

So when he rushes past the barrier and yells “HOTCH!”, he’s acutely aware of the sound of his feet pounding on the pavement, he knows this silence. The silence of the scene around him as people line up outside the barriers set up to watch, catch a glimpse of the destruction, the bodies. No one is talking or shouting, everyone is watching now, watching the crazy man as he runs head first into a situation that is in all likelihood a trap. All of his skilled training goes out the window at the sight of Hotch crouched there on the street covered in blood, at the sight of his SUV reduced to a flaming metal skeleton.

Derek licks his dry lips and turns his head back to the right. He’s a little surprised to see Gideon. “Who?” he rasps.
The older man huffs a little, in that annoying way that Derek knows means Gideon knows something Derek really wishes he didn’t. “He’ll be back,” Gideon says instead, “left for a shower.” Gideon sits up, pulling his chair a little closer. “You’re a good fit for one another,” he says, a statement too open, too implying for Derek right now. Sitting forward, Gideon inspects Morgan’s heavy eyes. “He trusts you… He doesn’t trust very many people.”
I trust him, Derek’s mind supplies.

Morgan grinned. He liked to flirt with Hotch to loosen him up. He was a great negotiator, had an unbelievable natural instinct for it, but sometimes he got a little uptight, a little too stiff and needed to be reminded that a lot of his job was just to flow. Gideon had only complained about Morgan's unorthodox tactics once, but after he'd seen the results, he never bothered again.
If Hotch needed to be flirted with and a little flustered to get him out of his head then so be it. As long as they established a private channel.
