Summary
Ghost fought the sudden urge to just slam his door in the kid’s face. He crossed his arms and leaned against his doorframe, silently watching the recruit for a few moments just to see if he'd squirm. The recruit did so beautifully, swallowing heavily and shifting on his feet once again as he waited for Ghost’s response.
His nerves couldn’t be attested to just asking for his supervisor’s feedback, even if that supervisor was Ghost. He had to be holding something back.
“Elaborate,” Ghost ordered.
His recruit’s eyes widened fractionally, mouth dropping open before snapping shut again. “Um,” he stumbled nervously, looking more skittish than before. “I was really, um, wondering if there was anything I could do to make sure my talents are… noticed.”
Apprehensively, he looked Ghost in the eyes for the first time and added a more emphasized, “Anything I could do for you, I mean,” breathily, eyes flitting over the length of Ghost’s body before racing back up to meet his gaze.

Soap took a second to consider the size difference and couldn’t keep himself from wondering if this man was as big all over. Shaking the inappropriate thought away, he listened as the Doctor walked them through what to expect.

John "Soap" MacTavish used to be a military man. That was, until he became wounded. Unfit for military life, he has to find a way to live out in the real world. Cattle driving is a huge thing in the states, so he takes up his hand in the practice, finds he likes the months of being in the quiet, wide-open ranges where he can keep his senses sharp. The pay is good.
Ghost is his new partner, at least for the next few months. The man is big, intimidating, and doesn't talk for shit. Soap isn't sure if the man even likes him in the beginning, but the days are long and the nights are, sometimes, cold. The dangers don't stop at rushing waters and crying coyotes and some men just need saving.
Soap always knew he was far more into men than women, but nothing could have prepared him for meeting Ghost, falling for him, and suffering through not being able to quit him.
