Summary
It is mid-November 633AU, the Venin interference in Poromiel is increasing. The people of Poromiel are trying to enter Navarre to seek protection that is being systematically denied.
In Basgiath, a small number of riders led by Xaden Riorson, are forging alloy weapons and delivering them to fliers to allow them to fight the Venin forces, but this effort must be kept secret. Navarrian leadership is torn between the inevitability of the threat that the Venin represent to Navarre in the near future and their past actions and choices to manipulate information and deny the existence of the threat. Lilith Sorrengail is pushing for a more practical approach from leadership, but neither Melgren nor the King appear open to listen to her opinion. She feels alone and losing faith in the things that always were the NorthStar of her life.
On the border, the news of strange things going on in Poromiel is emerging, but few know the whole truth… Trond Coven has more information than most, but he does not know how much he can share and he no longer believes in official reports.

Summary
In this work I will publish a number of scenes that can be read stand alone and are not portrayed in the books, however I am writing them as they could be part of the book and believe they are congruent with subsequent events and the evolution of the characters.
In a way this is an opportunity to test theories about why certain characters acted in a certain way later in the book.
These scenes will feature exclusively book characters PoV's although in some circumstances OC's may be involved.

Empyrean - the border perspective by AfterchangesUponchanges

Summary
The objective of the series is to provide depth to the events of Fourth Wing. I am not trying to completely comply with the canon perspective, but simultaneously I am trying not to move so far away from the events of Fourth Wing and Iron Flame that the reader loses context. This is not "romance" writing although relationships between characters are obviously front and center of the plot.
The story covers a period of 4 weeks between the middle of September and middle of October 633AU. This period in fourth wing goes from the Gauntlet training to the Threshing aftermath but the story does not follow what is happening in Basgiath, it covers how riders in the border are becoming aware that something strange is happening in the other side of the border.
The narrative follows an older rider, Levis Bromlin who is trying to understand what is happening to the wards, but the PoV's are very diversified and include some of the real characters of the book.

Summary
When Imogen starts her first year at Basgiath, the only thing she’ll openly say that she’s looking forward to is manifesting a signet. After all, that’s the only reason anyone would actually choose to enter Basgiath War College. But deep down she can’t wait to see her friends, see Garrick, again.

Summary
Liam’s shadow, the spoiled daughter of a fallen Tyrrish house, the cadet branded Venin behind her back. Sloane Mairi was never meant to be anyone’s weapon. But her signet is rewriting the rules of war and pulling her into orbit with the one man she swore she’d never touch.
A Wingleader built from his father’s rules and his own fear of failure. Dain Aetos was shaped by obedience. But Sloane’s defiance cracks his armor, forcing him to question who he serves and what he truly wants.
As ancient secrets come to light and cast Dain and Sloane as the centerpieces of the chessboard, a complicated bond coils between them. Not dragon-forged. Something worse. Because obsession doesn’t make good soldiers. And sharp-tongued girls don’t make good secrets.

Summary
The aerial corps does not tolerate cross-provincial rivalry within the barracks. The winds over Poromiel are strongest when Storm Talons, Summitwings, and Mist Feathers fly together. The enemy will not care which sky you call home–only whether you fall from it.
-Excerpt from the Poromiel Aerial Corps Field Manual
The skies have opened to welcome Dragon and Gryphons in the same air space, but unity is a fragile thing. Beneath the delicate illusion of alliance simmers rivalries older than the provinces themselves.
Third-year drift leader Selyne Mirevael has unsettled the Aretian Quadrant with the flier’s dangerous mind-magic and uncomfortable truths. Bodhi wants to trust her—needs to—but every whisper in the wind could be another illusion, every touch part of a larger game.
As reality frays and deception soars, they must decide whether to follow their hearts, or survive by doubting everything. By doubting each other.
Iron Flame from the POV of the fliers. Exploring the consequences of bringing mind magic into an already distrustful situation, and having to trust your heart over your head, especially when you can't trust your own mind.

Summary
Sloane had volunteered for Archives duty to feel closer to Liam, definitely not to keep encountering Dain Aetos at the crack of dawn.
And she doesn't agree to help him look for answers about his mother because she cares about him. She doesn't agree at all, really. She just keeps finding herself next to him on the Archives floor - at least an arm's length away, of course. It's not him - it's just that if there's one thing she's an expert in, it's loss, and she wants to believe it's possible for something to be found.

Summary
Waking up with eight years missing from your memory is unsettling… but waking up with amnesia and married to Dain Aetos is a nightmare.
Now add the fact that I can’t reach my dragon, someone wants me dead, plus Cat and Aaric are planning their wedding “just for politics,” and honestly, it’s starting to feel like Zihnal is having a very personal laugh at my expense.
Anyway—I’m Sloane Mairi, and I’m two seconds from lying face-down on the floor until further notice.
