И всё было бы и правда, как обычно, 47 раз до этого, но с фотографии на Сонхо смотрят знакомые, улыбающиеся глаза его фиктивного мужа - Мён Джэхёна.
Sonho eyes the new “assignment” file on his desk with suspicion. Inside – the usual: a portfolio of the target, personal data, location, method of elimination, recent photos, both frontal and profile. It would’ve been just like the previous 47 times – routine, impersonal – if not for one detail.
From the photograph, familiar smiling eyes stared back at him.

Behind Seonghwa, his older cousin Yeji’s voice drifts through. “…that’s him — Kim Hongjoong. Sadly just a captain. Charming, but hardly enough to secure the Parks. Seonghwa must think of the estate, really…”
Seonghwa keeps his expression smooth, hoping Hongjoong didn’t hear her. “I should be honored, Captain.”
Hongjoong’s face lightens up. “Then,” Hongjoong says softly, “I will make certain that it does.”⋆⋆⋆
I kept imagining seongjoong in an Austen x omegaverse setting, just devastated with mutual yearning and remorse, so here it is.
This story is inspired by Persuasion, her favourite of mine. Woosan gets some space as well (they're sort of my Jane and Bingley), with small additions of yungi and jongsang.
The keywords are pining, big balls (as held in ballrooms, of course), and scents leaking all over the place. I've got a rough draft of a story for about 5 chapters, but it might grow.

Summary
Hongjoong isn't sure how to define his and Seonghwa's relationship.
They're partners, co-pack leaders, best friends.
And maybe Hongjoong wishes it were more, but he won't say anything. Seonghwa is unpresented—a late bloomer—and Hongjoong doesn't want him to feel tied down to anything before he does present.
Everything changes during the pack's annual winter vacation. First, a blizzard snows them in at their remote mountain cabin. Then, Seonghwa unexpectedly presents and enters his first heat. And Hongjoong is forced to confront the feelings he's been pushing down for years.
