Summary
A Third Age gap filler featuring an episode that might have taken place in Rivendell shortly after Celebrían’s departure to Valinor. Autumn sadness, with some seasoning of hope, told from Elrond’s point of view. Consistent with my other stories, written a while ago, but not yet posted here. Many thanks and hugs to Ellynn for beta-reading!

Summary
"It is not that the Eldar need the torchlight and lamplight to see. But they have never yet walked in the darkness like this, never for so long, never without the knowledge that just behind the mountain ridge, just outside the thicket of a woodland, just beyond the wall is the pure, glorious Light of the Trees. Something that is now gone forever."
What does it take to embark upon a journey into the darkness when the Light is no longer? A First Age story, focusing on Finrod and his family and covering the time from immediately after the Darkening of Valinor to the return of the Noldor to Middle-earth. A canon-compliant gap-filler, consistent with my other stories, i.e., the characters and the storylines are the same.
This story is a gift to Markquiaki, inspired by her amazing art piece I was so lucky to claim (slide #80)! It can be admired here.

Do wars start with the first fired arrow and end with the last? Or maybe they start already with the realization that they need to be fought? And never truly end, as long as the memory of them haunts those who took part? Arafinwë’s story of the War of Wrath.

Summary
Nerdanel drops the bowl she’s holding. It breaks on contact with the floor in a sudden, complete shattering into shards.
There is a boy sitting in her kitchen, with his knees drawn up to his chest and his arms wrapped around them. He turns his head at the sound. The line of his cheek is achingly familiar. “Mother?”

Feanor is being released from the Halls of Mandos. Finarfin has come to collect him.
It's not that he ever thought this would go well. It's just that he didn't expect things to go quite this flavor of wrong.
