He jumped off the barrier ready to make some cruel comment. He wasn't sure what he would say yet, but he was certain something would pop into his head as soon as he saw the person. Yet, when he turned around to face them, he froze. For the first time in his existence, Scott Goldsmith was at a loss for words.

“To be fair, you were right about vampires being here.” Scott hesitated again. “And I’m not the only one.”
Avid blinked. “Oh.”
Scott-the-bat studied him with all the intensity a small, fluffy mammal could have. “No shock? Horror? Anger? Accusations?”
Avid looked away. “I mean—if they’re not hurting anyone, then does it matter?”
Scott didn’t respond for a long moment. Then, finally, he said, “You’re an interesting one.”
