None of it prepared him for waking up in a private hospital room after getting shot while saving Jean Grey. There were balloons. There were cards. There was an oxygen mask, an IV bag that probably cost seven hundred dollars, and the horrifying realization that Bellevue Hospital knew exactly who he was beneath the suit.

Summary
What was the fun in collecting trauma like pokemon cards if you couldn’t play them?
Peter trades in his gallery of trauma for the Bats’ rogue gallery as he adjusts to living in Gotham, losing his entire universe, and living with the ghosts of the Avengers. It’s not a fair trade—Peter is definitely being scammed for the damned shiny Jigglypuff—but at least he is getting out of this alive. Mostly.

“Still not old enough for basically having several college degrees,” Pietro argued as his head was pulled down so Wanda could check his scalp, “and can we get back to the on the run thing? I think we’re avoiding something important here.”
“So, after you got yourself shot…” Wanda started.
“Heroically,” Pietro interrupted, dodging another smack.
