Summary

Summary
Wei Wuxian was losing everything he had left right in front of his eyes. Where did he go wrong? He just wanted to be righteous and help the family of the people who saved them during the war. These people who revered him when he used his abilities against the Wen are now the same ones pillaging and destroying the meagre place he could call home after everything he went through.
Despite it all, his priority was to prevent anyone from ever using his Tally. The inhabitants were getting slaughtered left and right. It’s too late. He looked around, helpless, ‘at least Lan Zhan wasn’t here. He’s just too good.’ With all his remaining strength, he tried to destroy his Tally. The resentment was overflowing, he felt like he was getting ripped apart.
Everything went black.
Wei Wuxian was now holding Wen Zhuliu’s core in his hands, the carnage of the Wen around him amidst the green flames. Resentful energy is energy. If he can’t cultivate like before, he could modify his path a bit. He never cultivated demonically, he manipulated already existing resentment.

This was not his husband who had grieved him for thirteen years, who had been punished with thirty three strikes of the discipline whip by a sect who claimed to be righteous – but only complied to that righteousness when it fit their ideals, if anyone fell out of line, clearly, they could not be held responsible for dealing out punishment for stepping off the path – his husband, who had branded himself after finding their son in the ruins of the Burial Mounds.
