In the Shire there were two truths. The Tooks were odd and the Baggins were respectable. The Baggins family dealt in contracts and favours, and while the Shire knew that the Tooks were odd, it was the Baggins family that had other blood running through their veins.
Bilbo Baggins did not go running out his door for want of an adventure, he went running out his door because of a terribly worded contract and a laughable quest that somehow held the spark of other.
In this story, it is not the Tooks that held fae blood in their family tree, it is the Baggins, and theirs is so much closer to the surface.- Language:

Fill for this prompt on the kink meme: I basically imagine a story in which Bilbo is injured during the fight with the Orc. Maybe he has a wound he doesn't notice because of the adrenalin rush or the Orc scratches him with his sword which is poisend... that is up to anon.
I would like to have him collapse into Thorins arm during the hug ( I know a total cliche^^) Thorin gets all worried and maybe feels all guilty because he headed head first into the fight without any consideration for his comrades.

Birthday story for ewelock, who prompted: The reason Bilbo is single at age fifty isn’t because he is a confirmed bachelor. In fact, he would want nothing more than to settle down himself.
Bilbo is cursed.
Every time a romantic partner shows up he/she get into near death situations until they break it off with Bilbo. Drowning, trees falling on them, roof beams collapsing on their heads, etc. And then Thorin steps in, determined to break this curse.

'How did it come to this?' Bilbo asked himself as he raised Sting once more, panting from exertion and fever as he fended off the orc's blow... arms trembling from the effort.
Had he managed to make it all this way only to be cut down just as the lonely mountain finally came into view? Glancing toward the tree where he knew his small charges to be hiding the lone hobbit summoned what was left of his strength and raced forward... a battle cry wrenched itself from his sore throat as his letter opener collided with his opponent’s weapons. If this was how he was going to die then so be it, but he would take as many of the enemy with him as possible! He would protect these children with every ounce of strength that remained in his body, even if it was the last thing he did!
"I'm sorry, Thorin. It looks like I won't be able to apologize after all." With that final thought Bilbo redoubled his efforts, unaware that help was on it's way.

“Thorin, I have a weak heart. It has trouble pumping enough blood through my body. That’s why I’m always so low on energy. And…” Bilbo swallowed, forcibly keeping his eyes on the flickering flames. Thorin wasn’t moving by his side. “And it’s failing. There are healers in Greenwood who have gifts for mending hearts, but there isn’t much chance it will work. I haven’t been very responsive to any other methods, and… Well… I don’t have very long.” Bilbo dropped his eyes to his hands. He’d ripped the four-leaf clover Bofur had given him. It seemed horribly symbolic of his life.
Headed to Greenwood to see the healer Thranduil, Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey hitch a ride with thirteen dwarves headed to Erebor.
Bilbo had hoped it would be like the adventures he read. That there would be orcs, sword fights, torture, revenge, trolls, chases, or escapes.
He had never expected miracles or true love.

In an attempt to get the Arkenstone back for Thorin, Bilbo discovers the ring he's been using is the One Ring. Seized by a need to destroy gold, especially gold with the ability to ensnare creature and king alike, he sets out alone for Mordor. Anything to forget about the love that gold cost him.
What he doesn't know is that Thorin is no longer under the thrall of gold, and is desperately racing to catch up with him to keep him safe.
They may have just started on another adventure, but this one may not end as well as their first quest.

Summary
Bilbo missed the Shire, he missed his books and his armchair. He also terribly missed that sweet-yielding soft earth beneath his bare feet. His mind wondered, how did his past choices end him up here, prisoner on a rickety old ship, rocking back and forth on Bilbo’s greatest fear, the open ocean. It’s choppy unforgiving waters.
That blasted King Smaug it was his fault Bilbo was now at the mercy of vengeful pirates or was its Bilbo’s own foolishness that got him here. He yearned for the rolling hills of his birth far from the sea, but there's something about those deep blue ocean eyes that held him captivated... But he’s a damned pirate!
Will Bilbo stay a captive of his own fears or will he embrace change to survive and begrudgingly find adventure at the hands of these dangerous men. Will Bilbo’s heart finally open after so much time locked up in fear...damn it, this goes against everything a Baggins stands for.

CRASH! Bilbo’s head shot up from where he was sorting the paperwork and in an instant, he was running from the study. He barely made it into the living room when he froze and gasped.
Fíli was on the floor in a crumpled heap next to the low table. Bilbo hurried to his side, kneeling down on the cold stone floor. He pulled Fíli into his arms and shook the prince as carefully as he could, eyes going wide at the bleeding gash on his forehead that was staining blond locks deep red. Fíli didn’t stir, he didn’t wake.
“SOMEBODY HELP!” Bilbo screamed, holding Fíli as close as he could.

orWhen a sickness descends upon Erebor and the princes fall dangerously ill, their only hope is that the main ingredient in the medicine required, a flower that only grew in the lonely mountain, had survived Smaug. With lives at stake, the fate of the princes and of the kingdom falls onto the shoulders of one hobbit, who tries to juggle caring for his nephews, comforting his love and future sister-in-law, and proving to the mountain that he was more than just an outsider.

Summary
There was something in the way he moved- fast and sure, confident in his abilities. Bilbo Baggins may have been but a Hobbit- a creature of gentle nature- but there were very few things Thorin knew about this Hobbit for certain. That he could fight, up until now, had not been one of them.
And yet.
This Hobbit, who should have no experience with a blade, danced around his opponents with an ease, although somewhat sloppy, but his form was the least of his worries at the moment, befitting of a warrior.
Somewhere, somehow, his little burglar had learned to fight. The thought sent shivers down his spine, for what in Arda would a simple Hobbit need a sword for?

Summary
Bilbo Baggins was always a bit of an odd child. He knew that about himself. After all, other faunts his age could not 'remember' what *would* happen during their lifetimes. Bilbo doesn't know who or what brought him back, and he doesn't care. This is a chance to change the fate of those he cares most about. Even if he was to wait fifty years to do it.
In the 'Before', he was Silvertongue, Barrel Rider, Ring-Bearer, and the Baggins of Bag End. He will need to become so much more if he plans on saving anyone from their fate; higher powers and destiny be damned.
