An older Lan Wangji has been traveling along the countryside and aiding those in need, when he finds a small village east of Yiling that is plagued by a strange, resentful energy.
The waters are tainted and the lake's depths unfriendly to any cultivators that try to cleanse them. Lan Wangji is adamant in his goal of aiding the townspeople, as well as appeasing the mysterious, injured Jiaoren that he finds.
