A man, to become one of them. Alien to this place for his humanity, alien to his specie for his lack of it. He stood between two sides, on a thight rope. To be a monster of the beautiful yet horrible kind was to never find his place. He could scream his lungs out or roar his cries, perhaps these that would soothe his pain from being drugged and mutated against his will aren't these we think they are.

Summary
Wemmbu cried out as his footing gave way, his small body pitching down the slanted hillside. Bushes swallowed him as he tumbled, branches tearing at his clothes and skin while fear and pain tangled in his throat.
The young demon rolled helplessly, over and over, until the ground finally leveled out. He burst from the brush at the bottom of the hill and skidded to a stop, shaking and breathless, the forest suddenly terrifyingly quiet around him.
As Wemmbu struggled to his feet, something by the river caught his eye. A creature stood a few yards away, deftly scooping a writhing fish from the water. Then its head peeled open, splitting apart in a grotesque, petaled motion (think of the Demogorgon from Stranger Things) before it brought the fish closer.Most creatures would have screamed or run at the sight before him—but Wemmbu didn’t move. Fear should have taken him then, sharp and paralyzing, yet it never came. Instead, he stood frozen in place, staring at the strange being by the river with wide eyes filled with childlike wonder.

Flame didn’t want to admit it, but something felt off.
Not the usual “I got hit too hard in a fight” off. More like a slow, creeping fog sitting behind his eyes. His head felt hot. His hands felt cold. And every few minutes he had to swallow against the weird scratch in his throat that definitely wasn’t there earlier.
But he refused to say anything because Mane would never let him hear the end of it.
