They have not spoken of the wings again since the explosion at the Intelligentsia Guild laboratory - save for once, one afternoon when Aventurine lay sprawled across Ratio’s lap, utterly exhausted, and Ratio’s hand paused as he threaded his fingers soothingly through Aventurine’s hair.
“You have no obligation to nor do I have any expectations of you, but I hope you will take care of your wings.” Ratio’s voice was quiet and careful, and when Aventurine turned to look up at him, he was still looking at the book in his other hand. Beams of gentle afternoon sunlight splayed across them both, catching the edges of Ratio’s hair and reflecting in his eyes, still on the pages but soft around the edges. “Naturally, should there be anything I can do for you, you have my full support. But should you prefer time and solitude, you need only say the word.”
Aventurine just hummed and rolled onto his side, hiding his face against Ratio’s stomach. Ratio was warm and solid against him. “We can talk about it later, Doc,” he said, words coming soft and slow and his eyelids growing heavy with sleep, “promise.”
Aventurine really did mean it - he still does.
It can’t be too late.

Each word weighs heavy on his tongue as he forces them out.
Ratio’s eyes snap back to Aventurine’s face and his answer comes matter-of-factly, with no hesitation: “As always.”

Assassins, betrayal, and ancient secrets plague them on their path to uncover a dangerous plot that threatens all of Sumeru, and suddenly it’s all they can do to survive. With allegiances shifting like the desert sands and primordial powers stirring, Cyno suddenly finds himself unsure of who can really be trusted, while Alhaitham . . . Alhaitham finds himself in a fight for his very soul . . .

His hair swings away from his ass, and Wriothesley, who was just about to catch that loop of hair in his finger, finds that same loop drifting away from him. He can’t snatch his hand back fast enough, and his fingers brush the curve of Neuvillette’s ass.

Kaveh decides to step in.
“Lesser Lord Kusanali doesn’t exactly make public appearances. So not much is known about her really.” He explains.
A silence falls over the group for a moment until Kaveh decides to ask.
“So why do you two want to know about the dendro Archon?”
Aether looks grim.
“My sister was taken from me by an unknown god when we were going to leave Teyvat. I’m searching to be reunited with her. We’ve been traveling to each nation to ask the Archon there if they have any information on her whereabouts.”
Aventurine seems to snap to attention at that, while Collei nods thoughtfully, surprisingly calm for the information.
Kaveh meanwhile, blinks in surprise. That is not the answer he was expecting by any stretch of the imagination.
OR
Aventurine and (later) Dr. Ratio end up on Teyvat, and get pulled into the Sumeru Archon quests alongside Kaveh.

Aventurine soon found himself subjected to Ratio's piercing gaze, the doctor taking the time to blink softly once before turning the entirety of his unwavering focus on Aventurine's curled up form, slumped a few feet away from him.
"Is something the matter, dear gambler ?"
Aventurine couldn't help his chuckle, soft and surprised, laced with mirth and a disbelief so fond it tasted almost sickeningly sweet.
“No, Veritas, nothing to worry about,” he replied, the syllables rolling off his tongue with the round sweetness of those aniseed candies that Ratio enjoyed nibbling. “Just realized something.”
