Summary
“If I went to Evermore for break, Riko would pull Proust. I told him I’d go, but I’d need proof of him holding up his end of the deal. When I got to Evermore, Proust was dealt with.”
Andrew felt his world tilt on its axis. He tried to parse through his days at Easthaven to determine when Proust was replaced by the new doctor and realized it happened a few weeks into his stay - before the Foxes began break. Meaning Neil was telling the truth. But he couldn’t be. He couldn’t have gone through whatever happened in the Nest for Andrew. People didn’t shield Andrew from tragedy; they used him to protect themselves.
Like he could hear the battle in Andrew’s head, Neil murmured, “You always have our backs – I needed to watch yours.”
*****
Instead of Neil picking Andrew up from Easthaven, Andrew is there when Wymack returns from the airport with Neil and has to deal with the consequences of someone giving their all to protect him.AU where Riko keeps his word and Proust is pulled before things go too far. Summary
The doctor took a pause, which Nathaniel was able to use to ask, “what about my leg?”
The two pigs had the audacity to look surprised. The doctor looked over at them with a hint of confusion. “You didn’t tell him?”
Towns shook his head as Browning said, “you told us not to.”
Dr. Byrd nodded her head in approval and turned back to the bed. “Nathaniel…” she trailed off, reevaluating her words. “Would you mind if I sit?” and only after his own nod did she. “The damage done to your leg… it was unlike what most of the staff at this hospital had ever seen. The surgeons tried to save it, but…” She looked down at where his legs were and Nathaniel did too, only to feel himself pale at what he found.
“The surgery took about three hours,” Dr. Byrd continued. “The only reason why it took so long was because the surgeons really did try to save your leg. They did. Amputations usually take only half that time. Eventually, Dr. McCoy called it. Because of the damage done to your leg, we couldn’t wake you up to ask. It had to go. I’m sorry.”

Summary
Life goes on after the Foxes win the championship, and for Andrew and Neil it's uncharted territory with only each other for guides. Maybe it's time to put away some of those hard edges, and learn how to touch more softly, and speak more honestly. And if they falter, they have their family to help them get back on their feet.

Summary
Andrew was more than willing to turn down the Ravens' offer to be their newest goalie, unwilling to play five more years of Exy - let alone for someone with a too-sharp smile and a manic gleam in their eyes.
That was, until he realized that a member of their Perfect Court was his soulmate. (That was, until Riko Moriyama realized that Nathaniel Wesninski, the Ravens' #3 in waiting, was Andrew's soulmate.)
Andrew always knew that Fate loved tormenting him, he didn't need a reminder yet again via a too-attractive soulmate who appeared to loathe him. Yet things aren't always what they seem, especially in the Nest.

Summary
“He’s joining us earlier than we anticipated.”
“He’s a flight risk. This way there should be no more risk of him getting away from you. I’ve killed his mother. He belongs to you.”
“Six years old and already training in the Raven’s nest. He will be a player that won’t be rivaled.”
Nathaniel lives a hard life in the ravens nest, choosing Jean and Kevin's safety and happiness over his own constantly. Like the martyr he is. Then one day he is given a chance. It's a fools bet, and Nathaniel is unlikely to win it.
But he has one season to take the Foxes to championships and win.
If he doesn't, well.. he doesn't like the other options.
So he makes his own. Win or die.

Summary
A hurricane traveling up the coast from Florida is set to touch down in Palmetto, a problem no one predicted would incur anything other than storm damages. But the foxes learn the hard way that hurricanes fuck with barometric pressure, which fucks with scar tissue, something Neil happens to have a lot of.
So when he wakes up in excruciating pain, convinced that the past seven months after Baltimore weren’t real, he does the one thing he’d promised not to do anymore…
He runs.
Andrew isn’t far behind of course, but Neil is firm in his belief that he never actually left the car with Lola. There’s also a flash flood advisory to worry about, and he very much tore out of Fox Tower in nothing but a t-shirt and boxer shorts during a literal tropical storm.
or
Neil has a dissociative episode that sends him running and Andrew does a lot of feeling over it, begrudgingly, but still.

Summary
On a hunch, Andrew feels Neil’s forehead with the back of his hand. “You’re sick.”
“I’m fine. Leave me alone.” Neil closes his eyes again, pulling the comforter over his head.
Andrew pulls it back down. “You have a fever.”
“It’s a cold.” Neil sits up slowly, painstakingly. “I just need some Tylenol and I’ll be good to go.”
(Spoiler alert: Neil is not fine.)

Summary
Wymack’s voice trails off, words stuttering to an abrupt stop. All heads turn, slowly following the path of Wymack’s gaze.
Andrew spots him almost immediately - hair as black as night, curls gentle and full atop his head. He’s got a bruise the size of a baseball around his eye, freckles spattered out around it like an explosion of stardust. His eyes are the colour of the sky, cresting with storm clouds.
His hands are in his pockets as he walks by, fisted around something. He doesn’t look at any of them as he passes, eyes downcast.
Andrew’s never seen him before.
“What the hell happened to your face, Neil?” Wymack shouts, voice startling in the aftermath of silence. Neil doesn’t stop, plundering by the team and their coach without a second-glance.
__
In which Wymack adopts Neil at the age of 13, after the world has already chewed him up and spit him back out a few times over.
The Foxes are still the Foxes, and Neil and Andrew are still destined to find each other.

Summary
"Fuck, Andrew, what’s going on? This... This is real? Am I going crazy?"
"Neil," Andrew said, his voice low but firm, "this is real. I don’t know how or why, but I’m here with you. So, stop freaking out, okay?" He pulled Neil until their foreheads touched. "I need you to listen carefully," he began, waiting for Neil to nod before continuing. "I’ll go with the coach and Kevin to Palmetto, but I’ll come back as soon as possible to find you. We need to get these drugs out of my system. And meanwhile, you’ll grab your fucking bag and rent a decent hotel room to rest until your classes are over. You won’t run, and you’ll buy a damn phone. Got it, bunny?"
"Got it," Neil whispered, trying to absorb Andrew’s firmness; trying to believe in that absurd and ridiculous possibility. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath, letting the feeling of Andrew’s touch anchor him in reality. "I trust you. I’ll do what you said."
-- AU --
After almost a decade together, Neil and Andrew travel back in time to Neil's first year at Palmetto. Now, they must relive demons from the past. But at least they still have each other.

Summary
It was almost disturbing, how life had a cruel way of repeating itself. To the day he had been the one bleeding out in the middle of chaos.
Only this time, it wasn’t Eddie on the ground.

Summary
“What’s going on? Did I miss something, or–” Tommy starts, chuckling lightly.
“Yeah actually, I think you did.” Eddie’s voice carries across the loft, shutting up Tommy immediately. It’s much more accusatory and pointed than before, not a hint of wariness to it. Eddie takes his time as he stalks back over into the open plan kitchen and dining room area, shaking the bottle in front of him as he does.
“Ibuprofen.”
Tommy looks between the bottle and Eddie’s stoic face, still completely clueless. “Yeah? That’s what it says on the label.”
Buck hardly hears Tommy say this to Eddie, the word Ibuprofen echoing around the walls of his mind. Oh, God.
— — —
Or
When Buck wakes up with boils on his face, he calls Eddie to check it out. It is when Eddie finds out that Tommy gave Buck ibuprofen, one of the medications that can trigger Buck’s allergy to naproxen, that hell breaks loose.

Buck had always liked the nicknames Eddie used for him. He had particularly liked Cowboy, but since the lightning strike, Eddie didn’t use it anymore.
"Big Boy" was new, and got Buck all putty-like in Eddie’s hands, and he didn’t even know why. Eddie probably didn’t even mean it in any particular way. Afterall, he had no problem saying it in front of everybody else, so Buck didn’t know why it affected him so much.Bookmarked by AshiraCore
