Steve didn't know how to explain it. One moment, he was looking at Dustin, the kid he'd become absurdly attached to over the past semester, and then something shifted. In the next breath, Dustin was... different. Light brown hair had sprouted all over his face, smooth and straight and so unlike the curly mop still on top of his head. His nose had changed, the bridge gone flatter and wider, the end still hairless but now a deep dark brown, like a dog's. Underneath his nose, his lip was cleft, opened wide so Steve could see even more clearly the gap where Dustin's teeth should be. On either side of the cleft, whiskers sprouted, white and long.

"I don't want to be him again," Steve said, and he didn't have to elaborate. Eddie took a deep breath, leaning against the wall behind him. Steve was just grateful he didn't laugh; It certainly sounded ridiculous enough when he said it out loud. Eddie's face was still serious, though, when he spoke again.
"I won't let you be." And Steve had believed him.

Unable to speak, Stan lifted his hand and stared at his stained fingers in shock. His brain, already frazzled, could not bring itself to understand. The implications did not add up. This was Eddie Kaspbrak, the world's most invincible man. There was only one thing that could hurt Eddie, and that man would rather die than watch Eddie bleed.
But there was blood on Stan's hands all the same.

Ragh and Tracker have a brief discussion about their love lives. Post Sophomore E09.
Tracker snorts and leans against a nearby tree. She's still watching him with too-knowing eyes, which sets Ragh's teeth on edge. He begins his weird, stomping figure-eights again, so he doesn't have to look at her face while she unravels him. There's a moment where all is silent except Ragh's boots in the grass, and then Tracker says, "So you're in love with Gorgug."
It's the word choice that stops Ragh dead in his tracks.
"I am fucking not!"
Rolling her eyes, Tracker says, "The first thing you said to me was that you were gay, and I have fucking eyes, Ragh. It's either him or Fabian, and while you and Fab definitely seem buddy-buddy, it wasn't him talking about getting his kisses in that sent you off in a huff."
