Summary
Jiang Cheng is, all things considered, relatively content with his life. There are of course some days that are harder than others. Days where he still longs for approval from his long dead parents. Nights where he wishes his sister was still here to tell him how to calm Jin Ling's cries. Hours where the darkness in his room curls its icy fingers into his mind solely to remind him that he's so so alone.
On the daily though, he's relatively content. Almost happy, even. Raising one nephew and frequently babysitting the other, mending his relationship with Wei Wuxian, and drowning his sorrows in piles and piles of work. It's a simple life, but since he can't have what he lost, he supposes this is the next best thing.

Summary
Jiang Cheng hated the day he had to choose his role, to register as either a Dominant or a submissive just like everyone else had to do. Such a small thing determined how much choice he had in life, and marking down what he truly was would have meant giving up on things that were important to him, including following in his father's footsteps to manage the family business.
And so he marked himself as a Dominant, no matter how he yearned for something else.
There were only a few clubs that didn't ask to see registrations from their guests, places where he could be who he truly was, even if it was while wearing a mask to conceal his identity. It was far from his first night out, but this time he met someone wearing a mask of his own, a man in a similar predicament and registered against his nature, who drew Jiang Cheng like no other and made him want to kneel.
Perhaps together they could lay down their masks and be themselves.

Summary
Post seclusion, Lan Xichen continues to struggle with grief and guilt over Jin Guangyao’s actions and how much blame should be attached to himself. He has become more adept at hiding the extent of it, of living everyday with what feels like a crushing weight on his chest.
The four years following the revelation about his golden core and the events at the Guanyin Temple have been awful. Jiang Cheng’s reputation as short tempered and unreasonably angry have intensified, to the point that many seem to think that qi deviation is something that probably lies in his not too distant future.
A poisoning at a discussion conference finally brings things to a head, forcing them both to confront parts of their thoughts and lives that they have tried to avoid.

“No.” Suguru responds in that long suffering way that means he’s going to listen to Satoru but he’s gonna be pissy about it first. “It’s, fucking, 7AM.” Suguru adds. Suguru is not a morning person. It’s why Satoru went and bought the fancy coffee Suguru likes and breakfast sandwiches and red bean buns. He had to go to the bakery across town to get those.
“It’s so important.” Satoru tells him.
“Your opening gambit at 7-fucking-AM was ‘say I’ve gotten into anal play lately, why do I leak cum before I cum?’” Suguru says with a glare.
“Yeah.” Satoru says.
Suguru glares even harder.
“Well, you could answer me at least.” Satoru huffs, crossing his arms over his chest.
