Summary
Zelda has lived all of her life that she can remember in this tower—it's become her study, her store of Guardian parts and resources, her protection from a frightening, shifting world of monsters and Malice outside. She and Mother will be able to fight back once they can understand the Guardians, once they can get them to operate on their side. They're so close—she can feel it.
Maybe once the prophecy is overturned and the world is set right again, she can even go out and venture to see the strange blue lights that appear on the mountains every year on her birthday. It might be a while, and it certainly won't be this birthday, but that's all right. She may be incredibly curious, but she can be patient. She has a plan.
A strange swordsman tumbling in the window of her tower was not part of that plan.

The morning sunlight shone in the window behind him, casting the edges of his silhouette in a warm, autumnal glow. Around his hunched figure, threadbare and skittish, it felt out of place. The contrast was so sharp that it seemed misplaced and objectionable; the atmosphere cloaking him in cheeriness as it remained blind to his struggles.
Peet's breath grew a bit ragged, and he knocked over something else as he continued digging. He jumped at the sound—and dropped the flabbits beside his feet, where they landed with a thunk—but still didn’t pause. He hurried as if he needed to get out of here quickly. As if the feeling of her eyes on him made him want to run.
Nia’s heart tugged at her to intervene.
“Artham,” she said, voice firm but soft. She tried not to dwell on how that made him stop, how he visibly flinched at the name. “Are you alright?”

He'd tried to tell her that he should go first. If anyone was to encounter anything down there, it should be him. It was his sworn duty to protect her at whatever cost. He was quiet; he was a good swordsman. He didn't want to endanger anyone else.
In all her wisdom, she disagreed.
"It's dangerous to go alone," she'd said simply, looking him in the eyes. Her green eyes were worried, but there was a gleam in them that Link knew very well.
She wanted to see everything.
And after a hundred years of her only focus being the face of evil, he could hardly deny her that.
