Summary
Having a daily routine that consists of skipping classes and getting into fights with assholes while also not having the greatest relationship with her guardian, Luz is tired. Her grades are lacking but she doesn't care- she doesn't have the energy to care. After getting noticed by school figures because of her lackluster performance, Luz is introduced to Amity Blight, a girl who is the definition of perfect. She has her life together- she's the school's role model and captain of the volleyball team for crying out loud! Amity is everything that Luz isn't and she hates that. When Principal Bumps assigns Amity to help bring Luz's grades up, the two opposites find themselves in a sort of rivalry- the kind where each has an irrepressible hate for the other. At least, that's how it all started.

Luz Noceda is powerful, but the average person wouldn't believe it, not until she helped free The Owl Lady at least. But there's been a reason for that. After all, small balls of light and the odd flower or two aren't exactly impressive, especially when she usually only has such small sigils on hand at any given time. So how. How did she manage it? She even got the jump on Emperor Belos himself, something even the most experienced of mages would have no chance of doing. Lilith wants an answer and she even has a theory for how to make the boost stick if she's right.
Now if only her sister could explain to her why Luz, who seems to be ready to leap into almost anything, won't leap into love.
Anyone here for Boscha, she comes in as a major player starting at chapter 28.

Luz decides to spice up her local coffee shop with a little harmless mischief. Amity works there, and she’s hell-bent on catching whoever has been messing with the sign out front. They’re perfectly matched adversaries, and an epic battle of anagrams ensues.
Of course, many many words get mixed up and scrambled around. But somewhere along the way, Luz and Amity’s feelings do too. The frustration turns into fondness, the angry notes turn into friendly banter, and the two strangers turn into, well… they’re still figuring that part out.
