Written for Zombies, Run Secret Santa 2023: for Tumblr User Crazyspookies.
She requested: Five, Stam (my FAVORITE), Simon/Janine, Amelia Spens, and the Radio Cabel crew. It was not a requirement to give her all of it...but it was a fun challenge.
I present to you: A Christmas Tree Farm AU.
Sam never wanted to inherrit his family's tree farm. But here he is, just about 30, reluctant Tree Farm Heir. The positives: Simon and Steve, the lumberjacky hired help. And he gets to work with his BFF Five. The negatives: manager Janine and Super Difficult Customers (TM) like the one who shows up on December 23rd.But when the shop closes for the season, Five, Sam, and Steve find themselves overwhelmed by Christmas Spirit. (Spirits?)

No spoilers other than the character of Steve, who shows up in S4. -

S10, M14 and all I could think about was - WHERE IS PETER?
Oddly, that's not where the title came from. I knew I wanted it to be a song title (ZR tradition!) and I thought this mission *felt* like a Radiohead song, so I pulled up a list of all Radiohead song titles, scrolled like I was spinning the wheel on the Price is Right, and randomly stopped it.
Million Dollar Question.

Summary
Five is a librarian at Abel Primary School. It looks like it's going to be another ho-hum boring day when .... what's this? There's a new Year One teacher! His name is Sam Yao and he gets Five all kinds of flustered.
Characters MOSTLY from S1, but there are a few guest appearances from later season characters. Minor spoilers for late S4/S5 villain.
Look, this is dumb. Lol. And self indulgent as it is based on MANY events in my own life. Except, I work for an American elementary school and have very little knowledge of school systems in England, save for what I learned in Matilda. For those purposes, Abel Primary is a private school that plays by its own rules.
This is an alternate universe and an opportunity to test how well I know these characters. Can I translate their voices to a whole new setting? We're gonna find out.
I have 3 or 4 more chapters planned but not written. This is truly just a lighthearted summer project to keep me writing.

Summary
Rudyard Funn runs a funeral home in the village of Piffling Vale. It used to be the only one. It isn't anymore.
Rudyard is a cantankerous, taciturn man without height, charisma or any memorable features. Most people hate him - that is if they recognise him out of the context of his funeral home at all. He is quite used to that by now.
But that all changes when, by a quirk of fate, he learns that someone on the island has developed some intensely conflicted feelings towards him.
For the first time in his life, Rudyard has an admirer.
If only he knew what to do about it!Eyes flailing, ricocheting in their sockets Rudyard cast a desperate glance about himself for an excuse, any excuse to further stall Chapman and finally blurted.
'What about dinner?' This had the desired effect because Chapman's purposeful march petered into a stop.
'Well, what about it?' He mumbled, facing Rudyard once more.
'W-would you like to have dinner tonight?'
'I like to have dinner every night. Now, if that is all you wanted, I guess I might just-'
'More specifically, would you like to have dinner with me?'
