“Fuck off.” She says and he says nothing, stares her down. She stares back and they look at each other for a stubborn moment before the pain in her hand becomes too much and the thought of getting to swallow down the poison water in his hand too much that she does relent.

Rake doesn’t look smug, he just quietly hands her the painkillers that she swallows down with the beer before he gives her the bottle. She takes a sip and then she takes a bigger one and then she does consider downing it all but in the end just doesn’t and pushes it in the direction of what she thinks is him.

It was supposed to be nothing. A slip, a laugh, a kiss that didn’t mean anything. Except Steve kept coming back, and Eddie kept letting him. Indiana still spat the same slurs, the newspapers still screamed about a plague in cities far away, and Eddie still knew better than to hope.
But hope had a habit of sneaking in anyway... tucked in the way Steve looked at him when he thought nobody else was watching.

It’s not that he’s not thrilled for his best friend, or doesn’t want to be part of his big day. Henry wouldn’t miss Pez’s wedding for the world, and it’s going to be a wonderful day. But these days, weddings mostly serve to remind Henry of how far away something like that is for him. He hasn’t had a serious boyfriend in years, and he’s not getting any younger.
It’s fine. It’s just one day, after all. He just has to focus on Pez, on being happy for him and Liam, and he’ll make it through.
(After traveling to Texas for his best friend's wedding, Henry makes some questionable decisions, meets a gorgeous and intriguing stranger, and ends up kissing said stranger beneath the starlit sky. It's not a bad day. But maybe not the one he intended to spend the rest of eternity in.)

Shane waited a long time to let Ilya fuck him, unsure if it was really something he could let himself have. But even in all his calculations, he couldn't have prepared for Ilya going radio silent for months after, leaving him yearning for something he wasn't even sure was allowed, until it all comes to a head in Vegas.
