Summary
Jisung is 8 years old - in a musky hospital room, with yellowing walls - when he hears the four words that profoundly change him. He grips the bony hand in his hand, pulse growing slighter by the second, listening unknowingly to the weak voice he holds so dear for the last time.
"Don't just survive. Live."
Next thing he knows, he’s 20: cold barrel of a Glock 19 handgun pressed against his temple; arms pulled to an unnatural angle behind his back; sirens reverberating through his skull; red-blue lights searing through his eyelids no matter how he screws them shut.
It hits him that, while he never forgot the words that were so pivotal to him, he may have lost their meaning somewhere along the way.

Summary
Something about the easiness of his smile makes Soonyoung’s stomach tilt, his heart quicken, his palms sweat. Part of him aches to press his thumb to its soft crease, ingraining the touch of it in his memory so that in the late hours of the night, when he lays in bed and cannot help the way his mind wonders to thoughts darker than a moonless sky, the pad of his thumb can trace its shape against his hip.
Soonyoung is a runner, he always has been. Whether it's from his past or from his feelings, he has never been able to confront the things that mattered.
And yet, even as his past catches up to him at an alarming pace, Soonyoung craves a sense of belonging, a place he can call home.
He just never thought he would find it within an invisible village, in the wicked smile of the soon-to-be clan leader.

“Sometimes I wish I could just fly away, so far that no one would ever find me.”
“Not even me?”
“Hm… you could grow wings and fly away with me?”
God, did Bobby want to.
If wishes could still come true, then he wished for nothing more than the ability to let Hanbin soar, if only to witness this wistful smile for a little longer.

Summary
As heir to the Hatake clan, Kakashi is no stranger to having omega slaves shoved in his face as the council begs him to carry on the line. Unfortunately for them, he's not interested, and they would do well to stop trying now, thank you. So he thinks nothing of it when his father asks him to attend another showing, and shares pleasantries that don't really mean anything.
But the omega at the far end of the line is rather strange, more than a little damaged, and might have caught his eye.

Summary
There was silence. Neither of them said anything, they didn’t even move.
Gale regarded him with wide eyes, seemingly taking his features in anew. Then, he scoffed, straightening up to sit on his bedroll. “Of course. I can’t believe I didn’t see it.”
No fucking way. He was not being this arrogant, this insufferable, in this moment. Astarion must’ve misheard him, only he knew he hadn’t.
“You think yourself that smart, Gale?” he asked with narrow eyes, face twisting with distaste.
“Yes, in fact I do.” Gale replied, his tone returning all of Astarion’s hostility. “I am a studied wizard after all. I’ve read all about your kind, assuming you are merely a spawn.”
“Merely.” Astarion repeated. He kept quiet for a while, attempting to discern what Gale was going to do. He discreetly wrapped his hand around the dagger he hid in the hem of his pants, just in case.
The wizard seemed to be lost in thought for a while. Eventually he looked up at Astarion, his eyes twinkling in the moonlight. “Did you plan to kill me?”
“What?” Astarion choked on the word.

Summary
“Why does your blood smell so strange?”
The question startled Gale, who looked up from where he sat cross-legged in front of his tent, organizing his scrolls in preparation for their upcoming “visit” to the goblin camp. He’d given Astarion a wide berth since the revelation of his vampiric condition a few days earlier, so he was surprised to see the pale elf looming over him now, a peculiar expression on his face.
“You know,” Gale offered with a smile, “in my extensive journeys across manifold realms, I do believe that is not a question that I’ve ever been asked before. I honestly can’t decide whether or not I should be offended.”
-
Of the many side effects Gale has faced as a result of his whole “being physical host to an imminently destructive magical orb” problem, he somehow never anticipated his blood now apparently smelling irresistible to vampires (or at least, one particular vampire) to be one of them.
